Amber's Lure
Burning down my apartment was really unnecessary. So was framing a vampiric recluse for it. Good job...now he's mad at you too!
Natalie Forrester has actively avoided anything that remotely resembles adventure since high school. Unfortunately, adventure knows where she lives and is trying to reach her about her car’s extended warranty.
Natalie did not realize that when her apartment was burned, she would be walking into a whole new world that was right under her nose. The man implicated in the arson, while innocent, does himself no favors in Natalie’s estimation when he tries to sample her blood after asking her out for a drink. In this case, a stun gun to the pelvic region of the offender worked wonders. Even centuries old vampires aren’t immune to a few thousand volts to the male reproductive system.
Natalie is brought before the Council, a body that governs the Shadowfolk who live among us. Natalie is placed under the protection of one of their members until those who are after her blood are found and dealt with. Too bad the one assigned to protect Natalie is the vampire she almost electrocuted the previous day. They will have to get used to each other fast. Those who attempted to kill Natalie have made it clear they will try again. Nobody is what they seem, even Natalie. She has a connection to those who want her dead, one that goes back to thirteenth century France, and to a being who is as enigmatic now as she was then.
